Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death among ages 1–34. Small children are at greater risk and should be properly restrained in a child safety seat designed for their height and weight. More than 70 percent of child safety seats are installed incorrectly, placing children at risk.
For more information on traveling safely with your children, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Web site at www.nhtsa.dot.gov. To find out if your region offers free child safety seat installation and inspection, click on your region and contact your local resource.
