Battle of the Belt was developed to reduce the number of motor-vehicle-related injuries and fatalities among Missouri high school students by increasing seat belt usage. The program was created for students that want to make a difference in the lives of of those they care about. It's also a great way for teens to have friendly rivalries with neighboring high schools while increasing seat belt usage. Not only does the competition increase safety belt awareness, but students also have the opportunity to win cash and prizes in the process.
For the 2007 Battle of the Belt competition, schools picked a six week time frame between Sept. 6 and Dec. 31 that worked best for them. And to make it even more convenient, there were many free resources available to schools that participated in the Battle of the Belt competition. For more information regarding this year's 2008 Battle of the Belt, contact Belinda McMurry.
